The Bachelor of Business Administration is a three-year undergraduate degree in how organisations work — accounting and finance, marketing, operations, human resources, business law, economics and data analysis — taught through case studies, live projects and internships rather than theory alone.
Because the subjects are broad, a BBA suits students who want business exposure early and the freedom to specialise later. Graduates move into analyst, sales, marketing and operations roles, prepare for the CAT or GMAT with three years of context behind them, or take over and modernise a family business.
The degree has also widened with the economy. Fintech, e-commerce, edtech, quick commerce and health technology hire BBA graduates for roles that barely existed a decade ago, and employers increasingly ask for a specialisation — analytics or digital marketing — rather than a generalist.
Pass from a recognised board. Most colleges ask for 50% or more; the better-known ones ask for 60% and above.
Separate the ones that test (IPMAT, NPAT, SET, CUET-UG) from the ones that admit on board marks, because the two need different preparation.
Apply to each exam separately and keep two or three in hand, so one bad day doesn't decide your year.
Top programmes add a written ability test, group activity, interview or statement of purpose after the written test.
Submit each college's own application form with your scorecard, marks and documents before its deadline.
Attend document verification, pay the admission fee by the deadline and complete your enrolment.
Each exam leads to a different set of colleges, so choose by where you want to study rather than by the exam's reputation.
| Exam | Conducted by | Leads to | What it tests |
|---|---|---|---|
| IPMAT | IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak | Five-year Integrated Programme in Management | Quantitative ability, verbal ability, then a personal interview |
| CUET-UG | National Testing Agency | Central and participating universities, including Delhi University's BMS and BBA (FIA) | Language, a domain subject and general aptitude |
| NPAT | NMIMS | NMIMS Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Indore and Navi Mumbai | Quantitative and numerical ability, reasoning, English |
| SET | Symbiosis International (Deemed University) | Symbiosis BBA and allied undergraduate programmes | General English, quantitative, general awareness, analytical reasoning |
| UGAT | All India Management Association | Member institutes across India | English, numerical and data analysis, reasoning, general knowledge |
| University tests | Individual universities | Christ, Jain, Amity, Alliance and similar universities | Aptitude and English, usually with an interview |
Exam patterns, eligibility and dates are revised most years. We confirm the current rules for every college on your list before you apply.
Admission to these programmes is competitive and each runs its own process. Fees are for the full programme unless the college publishes them yearly.

Most colleges ask you to choose a specialisation in the second year. These are the ones hiring managers currently look for.
| Specialisation | Typical roles | Skills worth building |
|---|---|---|
| Finance and fintech | Financial analyst, investment banking analyst, credit analyst | Financial modelling, valuation, risk assessment, Excel |
| Marketing and digital | Brand executive, performance marketer, category manager | Campaign analytics, SEO and paid media, consumer research |
| Business analytics | Business analyst, reporting analyst, product analyst | SQL, Excel, Power BI or Tableau, basic statistics |
| Human resources | Talent acquisition executive, HR operations, people analytics | Interviewing, labour law basics, HR information systems |
| International business | Export-import executive, trade analyst, supply chain coordinator | Trade documentation, logistics, cross-cultural negotiation |
| Operations and supply chain | Operations executive, inventory planner, process analyst | Process mapping, forecasting, ERP systems |
Pay depends far more on your college, internships and specialisation than on the degree itself. Treat these as broad market ranges.
